Product description

Female-sorted Holstein-Friesian semen from proven, high-milk sires. Use it on maiden heifers and your best-producing cows to breed replacement heifers quickly, instead of buying in animals of unknown history.

Sires are chosen for milk yield, udder conformation, fertility and calving ease. Tell us your cows' breeding history and we will recommend a sire that avoids inbreeding.

How to use

  1. 1Book insemination when the animal shows standing heat — for cows, serve roughly 12 hours after heat is first seen (the AM/PM rule).
  2. 2Thaw the straw in water at 35–37 °C for about 40 seconds, then inseminate immediately.
  3. 3Check for return to heat after about 21 days (cows) or 18–21 days (goats), and confirm pregnancy at 60–90 days.

Safety and handling

  • Straws must remain in liquid nitrogen (−196 °C) until the moment of insemination.
  • Thawing and insemination should be done by a trained, licensed AI technician.
  • Keep breeding records — date served, sire code and straw batch — for every animal.

Questions about this product

Why is sexed semen more expensive?

Sorting sperm by sex is a costly laboratory process and each straw carries fewer sperm. The extra cost is usually recovered through the value of the additional heifer calves.

Is sexed semen good for repeat breeders?

No. Use conventional semen on cows that have failed to conceive more than once; sexed semen works best on fertile heifers and cows.

How long does delivery take?

Nairobi orders usually arrive the same or next working day; most other counties within 1–4 working days. Delivery is free on orders over Ksh 15,000 in selected areas, or collect from our store.
