Youth in Agribusiness Programme

Young people are the future of African agriculture, but many lack the land, capital and know-how to start. The Youth in Agribusiness Programme combines practical training, right-sized starter input packages, mentoring by JAAG field officers and links to buyers, so youth groups can run poultry, horticulture, dairy goat or input-retail enterprises as real businesses.

What the programme includes

  • Enterprise training

    Hands-on production training plus record keeping, costing, marketing and group governance.

  • Starter packages

    Inputs and equipment sized for a first production cycle — for example 100 layers, a quarter-acre drip kit or dairy goats.

  • Mentoring

    Regular visits and phone support from a JAAG field officer through the first cycles.

  • Market & finance links

    Introductions to buyers, SACCOs and youth funds to grow beyond the first cycle.

How to take part

  1. 1Register your youth group (or form one with at least 10 members).
  2. 2Submit an expression of interest through our contact form.
  3. 3Attend an orientation and select an enterprise with our team.

Frequently asked questions

Do participants pay for starter inputs?

It depends on the funding partner for each cohort — some packages are subsidised or on credit. We explain the terms before enrolment.

Can individuals join?

The programme works through groups, which makes training, buying and selling more efficient. We can help you connect with or form a group.
